Before & After

BEFORE YOU BOOK

WHAT IS IT

Dermal Lip Fillers made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that provides immediate plumping, smoothing and definition to lips. Results are immediate and last on average from 6-12 months. Including Juvederm Ultra, JuvedermUltra Plus, Restylane L, Restylane Refyne, and Restylane Defyne.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Swelling is expected and typically subsides within 24-48 hours. Lips are vascular so expect some bruising. Bruising typically subsides within 5-6 days. Slight tenderness to the lips is normal and resolves within 24-48 hours. Small lumps and bumps may occur- filler is moldable which can create small bumps after injection. But no need to worry. Massage these out for a couple of days and those lumps should be gone.

AFTER CARE

Ice on and off for the first 24 hours to help minimize swelling and bruising. Avoid smoking for first 24 hours. Refrain from strenuous exercise for first 24 hours.

Lip Fillers FAQs

Lip fillers usually last anywhere from six months to 1 year, depending on the type of augmentation and the patient’s metabolic rate. Some products, like Juvéderm, can last for 18 months with the proper care and maintenance. Over time, the body metabolizes the filler and the lips gradually return to their original shape.

Some mild bruising and swelling are common after any cosmetic treatment, and go away as the body heals. Healing time varies from patient to patient, but in general, it will take about one week for your lips to stop swelling post treatment.  You can take measures to ease or minimize the swelling, such as wrapping an ice pack in a thin cloth and applying it to the affected area. If the swelling continues, consult with your doctor.

Livio Providers will provide you with specific instructions for minimizing lip filler swelling.

A lip filler treatment can range from several hundred dollars to thousands of dollars. Several factors affect the cost of lip injections, but the main factors are the type and amount of filler used.

At Livio, we charge one price for all lip filler treatments.  Your Livio injector will discuss specifically what your goals are for your lip filler treatment and choose the best product based on your personal preferences.  Our lip filler treatment is $659.

Getting lip filler is a great way to improve your appearance, make you look younger, and give you the lip shape you have always wanted. However, the effects of the treatment are not permanent. They last between six months and one year, but results can be maintained with regular maintenance treatments. The precise length of time your filler will last depends on how quickly your body metabolizes it.

Many lip fillers are available, and the one that is perfect for you depends on what you want to achieve. Some fillers, such as Juvederm Ultra XC, RHA 3, Versa, and Restylane Kysse, provide a natural and plump look.  Others, such as Volbella XC, can be used to add subtle volume.

The longevity of lip filler will vary depending on how much is injected, location of the filler, and your body’s ability to metabolize the filler.

It is essential to wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup to your lips.  You will want to keep your lips hydrated during the first couple of days after your lip filler treatment, which will help reduce dryness and peeling. Drink plenty of water, and apply aquaphor or chapstick to your lips in the first 24 hours.  You can apply lipstick after 24 hours but choose a gentle easy to remove gloss for the first couple of days after your treatment.

During your recovery from a lip filler procedure, you may wonder whether it’s advisable to drink after your injections. Alcohol can affect the healing process and potentially worsen any bruising or swelling. You should wait at least 24 hours after your treatment before you resume drinking.

You should avoid smoking for at least two days after getting a lip filler. Smoking could damage your lips and expose them to infection, and smoking can also cause wrinkles, age spots, and discoloration.

If you plan to eat after getting a lip filler, it’s important to avoid salty foods. Excess sodium will dehydrate your lips, and it also irritates the lips. You should also avoid spicy foods.

Drink plenty of water to keep your lips hydrated.

Many new mothers want to continue their favorite cosmetic treatments. However, the FDA advises against dermal fillers while breastfeeding, and instead, they recommend delaying treatments until after the baby has weaned from breast milk. At Livio, we do not inject anyone who is breastfeeding.

It is important to discuss any injectables with a healthcare provider while pregnant or breastfeeding.

After you get a lip filler, you may experience bruising, soreness, and swelling for the first 24 to 48 hours. You should avoid applying any forceful pressure on your lips for 72 hours after treatment.

Kissing shouldn’t be a major concern for most patients. However, it would be best if you waited at least two days after your treatment to give your lips a good chance to heal.

If you aren’t happy with the results of your lip filler, the filler can be easily dissolved using hyaluronidase, which breaks down the hyaluronic acid in your filler. In some cases, you’ll need two or three sessions to get the desired results.

During the procedure, a highly concentrated dose of hyaluronidase is injected into the lip. This enzyme breaks down the hyaluronic molecules and encourages the body to reabsorb the HA. The filler dissolves over three to four days.

Getting lip fillers can be a great way to enhance your natural beauty. At Livio Med Spa, we use a powerful topical numbing cream that eliminates any discomfort.  We can also provide you with a dental block if needed to further reduce the discomfort.  The procedure is quick and painless, and it is also highly effective. There are minimal side effects, but some people may experience bruising, swelling, or tenderness at the injection site. Schedule a consultation with our experts at Livio, and we can help you understand everything you can expect from your treatment.

Drinking plenty of water and keeping your lips moisturized speeds up healing. You can also take over-the-counter pain relievers or apply ice, and should avoid strenuous activity for at least two days.

Clients usually report very little discomfort during their treatment. We offer a topically-applied numbing agent or, if you have low pain tolerance, a fully-numbed experience with a dental block.

All of our lip fillers are made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance, and filler rarely causes a reaction in clients. After your treatment you might experience swelling, redness, or bruising, so allow yourself a little bit of downtime if you’re getting this treatment prior to a big event.

Results can last from 6 months to a year.
