Do Lip Fillers Shrink Lip Size Afterward?

2 min read

Lip fillers are a great way to increase the size of your lips. They can use to improve the shape of your smile or fill in a few lines around the mouth. For most people, the swelling and bruising subsides in just a few days. Lip filler dissolves naturally and flushed out of the body over time; once it’s gone, though, your lips will revert to their original size.

Bruising is common after lip injections. It is important to avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours. You should also limit your exposure to UV rays. The sun can make the filler break down more quickly.

Another important consideration is the use of an ice pack. This will reduce bruising and swelling and can also provide a soothing effect. Try to apply the ice to the area every five to ten minutes for six to eight hours. Also, keep your head elevated to reduce swelling.

Use High SPF Sunscreen #

It is important to use a high SPF sunscreen before and after any cosmetic procedure. You may wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays. If you are on vacation,  spend a little time in the shade.

Avoid sleeping on your face #

During the first week, you should avoid sleeping on your face. Swelling can become worse when you sleep on your face, and you should not be touching your lips. Alternatively, you can sleep on your back with your head elevated.

In addition, you should not be drinking alcohol after the treatment. Alcohol can exacerbate bruising and swelling. Ideally, you should wait at least one week before you drink again.

You should also try to avoid any strenuous activity or extreme temperatures for the next 48 hours. Flying, for example, can cause more bruising, so it is best to steer clear of airplanes.

Massage the area #

Massaging can help spread the injected filler and can help with the recovery. Applying a small amount of vitamin K-based products can also help. Keeping an ice pack on your lips can also provide relief.
