Before any treatment, we provide a few general recommendations to ensure that you receive the best results and are comfortable during your appointment. If you have any further questions, particularly if they are about any prescription medications or pre-existing conditions, contact the licensed professionals at our spa or reach out to your provider.
2 WEEKS BEFORE
Schedule your appointment 2 weeks prior to a big event. This allows any swelling or bruising to heal and includes enough time for you to see the full effects of treatment.
- If you have a history of cold sores or shingles in the treatment area, contact us for a prescription.
2-3 DAYS BEFORE
Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medication for 2 weeks. Over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS have blood thinning effects that can increase the risk of bruising. Supplements such as vitamin E, gingko biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and primrose oil should also be avoided.
- DO NOT discontinue use of prescribed medication without consulting your physician.
Avoid any hair removal treatment such as shaving, waxing, hair removal creams, tweezing, laser, etc. on the treatment area.
Avoid any irritating topical products such as glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, products containing retinol, or any anti-aging products.
Avoid sun and heat exposure to reduce any irritation or sunburn that could delay treatment.
Take arnica tablets to reduce the risk of bruising and/or swelling.
24 HOURS BEFORE
Don’t consume any alcohol for 24 hours prior. Alcohol can increase the risk of bruising.
DAY OF TREATMENT
Eat a good meal. This will reduce any risk of feeling faint or queasy during your injections.
Avoid makeup on any areas that are going to be treated.
