How does a VI Peel treatment work?
A VI Peel is an intermediate-depth chemical peel designed to improve skin texture and diminish signs of aging. It utilizes ingredients like trichloroacetic acid, tretinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and vitamin C in order to encourage cellular turnover and refine skin’s surface layer.
What Does it Feel Like?
A VI peel is a fast and painless procedure. Your practitioner will cleanse your skin then apply an acid solution in two layers over your face. You may feel some numbness or tingling during this time but this should dissipate quickly.
How Long Does a VI Peel Last?
Depending on your lifestyle and skin care routine, the effects from a VI Peel can last up to months. But as skin ages, cell turnover and collagen growth slow down, so maintenance treatments may be necessary at regular intervals.
What is the Ideal Timing to Schedule a VI Peel?
A VI Peel typically offers little downtime, though some patients may experience redness or an itchy rash for up to several days after. If your skin is sensitive, consul t with our aesthetician about when to get your VI Peel; generally speaking, three months prior to a big event is recommended.
VI Peel Precision Plus Benefits
VI Peel Before and After
Results from a single VI Peel can be seen after just one session, but it usually takes three to four treatments for optimal results. It’s recommended to do 3-4 VI peels annually as maintenance and for any deeper rejuvenation; however, we can determine exactly how many you require depending on what condition your skin is in, and what you are hoping to improve.

BEFORE YOU BOOK
WHAT IS IT
The VI Peel is a chemical peel which utilizes three main ingredients: trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid and phenol. It can be used to help with fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, and redness.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During a VI Peel, one of our providers will apply an exfoliant acid. Beginning at thicker areas of skin, such as the chin, and cheeks, and moving to the thinner areas around the eyes and mouth. You may experience a slight tingling on your face during the treatments.
AFTER CARE
A VI Peel can cause peeling and swelling, which may take up to 1 week to resolve, depending on the depth and intensity of the peel. It is important to follow the VI peel post- treatment instruction sheet and to use only the products supplied in the VI Peel kit. Also, we recommend not using makeup until the skin has fully healed.
VI Peel FAQs
Retinoic Acid: This ingredient inhibits melanin production for a brighter and even skin tone. It helps fade sun spots and melasma that are resistant to other treatments.
Salicylic Acid: This ingredient cleanses pores and reduces inflammation. It has become a go-to treatment for acne scars, surface acne scars, as well as keratosis pilaris – the skin condition.
Phenol: This ingredient numbs the skin for a painless application, helping treat hyperpigmentation and uneven skin texture caused by sun damage, melasma, and age spots.
If you suffer from acne, a VI Peel may help clear up pimples or prevent new ones from forming. Plus, it has been known to reduce acne scarring as well.
In some patients with acne-prone skin, the VI Peel may cause new breakouts (or purging). While this is usually temporary, it can help clear up blemishes beneath the surface for improved skin tone and texture.
Prior to your peel, it’s best to avoid using acne products and retinoids on your skin as these ingredients can weaken its protective barrier.
VI Peel side effects typically include light skin peeling for the first week after treatment; this is similar to skin peeling after sunburn, and should not cause any serious issues unless you pick at it with a razor or scraper.
One potential risk of any VI chemical peel is that patches of your skin may darken or turn lighter after treatment. This condition, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, is more common among individuals with darker skin tones. To reduce this possibility, avoid exercising, sweating excessively and raising your body temperature significantly for at least three or four days following your peel.
VI Chemical peels can sometimes cause scarring. This is more common with deep peels, but can also happen with medium peels if your skin is thin or damaged.
Itching is another common side effect. Usually, it will go away on its own after some time; however, if it persists for longer than expected, talk to your healthcare provider about whether this could be an indication of dermatitis.
Swelling is a common side effect, though it usually goes away on its own. Swollen eyelids can make your face appear red, puffy, or sunken in.
To reduce swelling and minimize pain, apply ice to the affected area. This will expedite healing and minimize inflammation.
Livio Med Spa does not treat women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What frequency should you get a VI Peel? That depends on your skin concerns and desired outcomes. Some skincare professionals suggest getting one every two to four months for optimal benefits.
VI Peels can be an effective way to rejuvenate your skin and boost confidence levels. Unfortunately, it’s not a one-size-fits all solution; it may take multiple treatments in order to see desired outcomes.
Yes, you can exercise 3 days after receiving a Vi Peel; however, it is recommended to avoid sun exposure for at least one week. Excessive sweating immediately after getting a VI peel is not recommended. It can interfere with skin healing. Applying an effective SPF 30 sunscreen with
regularity also helps protect the skin from UV rays while it heals to avoid any potential damages or irritation.
Do not wear makeup immediately following VI Peel treatments. It is recommended that you wait for four to six days before applying occlusive makeup.
